1. Вероятность, с которой два аллельных гена, полученных от родителей и объединенных в зиготе, являются общими по родственной линии для обоих этих родителей.
2. Доля генов, по которым данная особь гомозиготна, т. е. F = 1 — P, где P — индекс панмиксии. Т. обр., Р. к. и. показывает интенсивность (тесноту) инбридинга, используя величину возрастания гомозиготности особей. С. Райт предложил коэффициент инбридинга в 1931 г.
